Global footwear and apparel giant Nike, and baseball lifestyle apparel company Baseballism are partnering on a limited-edition shoe that marries baseball glove leather with Nike’s design prowess.
The shoe named the Alpha Huarache Flag Man Turf 2 is the first baseball-related collaboration for Nike, and Baseballism’s first-ever shoe.
The shoe, two years in the making between the Portland, Oregon area companies, will only be sold online through Baseballism’s website beginning Saturday, Oct 26th at 10am ET. Just 300 pairs will be made available worldwide for $110 retail. None of the specialty shoe inventory will be made available at brick-and-mortar stores.
The shoe features upgraded material and detail including nubuck leather and Baseballism’s trademark glove leather. Glove leather is featured throughout the shoe including the tongue tab, heel tab and Nike Swooshes. Baseballism’s Flag Man logo takes center stage on the embossed glove leather tongue tab. Perhaps the highlight of the shoe is an embossed leather insole patterned with Baseballism artwork.
Other touches include metal shoelace tips, custom Baseballism lace dubrae, and Baseballism hang tag.
For packaging, the bright orange Nike box is replaced with a custom, clean white box featuring the Nike and Baseballism logos side-by-side.
“Being able to collaborate with Nike is extremely exciting and validating for Baseballism,” said Travis Chock, Co-Founder and CEO of Baseballism. “It gives us a larger platform to share our brand and love for the game of baseball. We are also very proud to bring baseball lifestyle fashion to a limited-edition sneaker world that is historically dominated by basketball releases.”
Following up on a 2018 that saw Baseballism open four brick-and-mortar retail stores, the company opened their ninth retail store in Irvine, California this year. Baseballism continues to have a long-term pop-up in Portland, Oregon on top of a permanent brick-and-mortar store in the company’s home market.
As has been the case every year since the company’s founding in 2012, Baseballism continues to see growth in revenues. Top line revenue, based on Baseballism’s internal reporting, was $14.5 million in 2018, and $18.2 million in 2019. Tax basis revenue, which reclassifies discounts and other categories, was $13.0 million in 2018 and $16.1 million in 2019.
